Is a Testosterone Booster Natural? What the Word Does and Does Not Tell You
Natural has no set meaning on a supplement label. Plant extracts, minerals and amino acids can all be called natural, and the word does not mean safe, tested or effective. HoneyBoost lists a mix of plant extracts, zinc and an amino acid, plus sugar, corn syrup and artificial color. Judge it by the label, not the adjective.

What does natural mean on a supplement?
It is a sales word, not a test.
No source on our list gives natural a defined meaning for a supplement label. A product can call itself natural because an ingredient comes from a plant, because it is not a drug, or simply because the maker likes the word. None of those tells you the dose, the purity or what the product does in the body. Poison ivy is natural too.
The adjective also hides a trade-off. Plant extracts can interact with medicines and cause side effects, the same as any active ingredient. Memorial Sloan Kettering lists cautions for several of the plants in this gummy, which the table below sets out.
Which HoneyBoost lines are plants, minerals or amino acids?
Seven named lines, three kinds.
| Line | Per gummy | What it is | One caution |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zinc (as zinc gluconate) | 2.5 mg | A mineral salt | Can lower absorption of some antibiotics |
| Maca root extract 10:1 | 10 mg | A plant root extract | May interfere with testosterone lab tests |
| Horny goat weed extract 8:1 | 10 mg | A plant extract | A case report of a fast irregular heartbeat |
| Damiana leaf extract 5:1 | 10 mg | A plant leaf extract | May affect blood sugar |
| Tongkat ali root extract 100:1 | 25 mg | A plant root extract | Product quality varies |
| Mucuna seed extract | 10 mg | A plant seed extract, 98% L-DOPA | The drug levodopa; MAO inhibitor interaction |
| L-arginine | 10 mg | An amino acid | Ask about nitrates and blood pressure medicine |
Five of the seven are plant extracts. They follow the usual caution sources: Memorial Sloan Kettering for maca, horny goat weed and damiana (MSK, Maca), and a DNA test in which only 37% of tongkat ali products were authentic (Abubakar et al. 2018).
What else is in the gummy that is not a plant?
The part that is most of it.
The other ingredients are sugar, corn syrup, water, pectin, citric acid, natural flavor, guar gum, tapioca starch, sodium citrate and artificial color. The label also prints "Lab Tested, No Artificial Additives", yet its own ingredient list ends with artificial color, and we report both lines as printed. Each 4.2 g gummy carries 3 g of added sugar and 10 calories. The six plant and amino acid lines total 75 mg, under 2% of the weight.
No honey is listed, so the honey in the name and the honey flavor are not backed by a honey ingredient we can see. Natural flavor is a flavoring line, and the label gives no amount for it.

See packsWhat matters more than natural?
Dose, medicines and the seller.
A ratio such as 10:1 or 100:1 says how much raw plant went into an extract. It is a recipe, not a measure of strength, which is why studies name a standardized extract. The best human data for tongkat ali used 100 to 600 mg a day of mostly one branded extract (Leisegang et al. 2022), against 25 mg here.
Natural is no shield against a mismatch with your medicines. The label says not to take it if you are pregnant, lactating, have a medical condition or take other medications. A pharmacist can check the seven lines against your list. Keep taking prescribed medicine as directed.
