Male Enhancement Gummies: What the Label and the Studies Actually Show
Gummies sold for male enhancement are candy-style supplements with small amounts of plant extracts. The format limits dose, adds sugar and has been used by sellers to hide drugs. HoneyBoost's label lists 75 mg of extracts and amino acid and 2.5 mg of zinc per gummy, and no study tested it.

What are male enhancement gummies?
Chewable supplements marketed for sexual performance, stamina or confidence.
They usually combine plants such as maca, horny goat weed, tongkat ali and damiana with amino acids and minerals. The marketing leans on words such as strength, stamina and drive. HoneyBoost fits the pattern in form, and its label names no condition. The phrases on the front end with a dagger that points to the FDA disclaimer.
The dagger (†) after INTENSE STRENGTH, PEAK STAMINA, PERFORMANCE SUPPORT and BIGGER DRIVE. HARDER. LONGER. points to the FDA disclaimer printed on the label. That is the legal hook. It tells you the phrases are marketing, not findings, and that no one has reviewed them.
Why is dose the limit?
A gummy has room for milligrams, not grams.
A gummy is a candy-like format. It carries sugar and a gelling agent, and each piece can hold only a small amount of active material, so large doses need many pieces. HoneyBoost's gummy weighs 4.2 g, and its six active-type lines add up to 75 mg, under 2% of the weight.
One gummy has 10 mg. The trial used 5,000 mg a day. That is 500 times more, and the gummy holds about 0.2% of it. The label amount is a rounding error beside the studied dose. This is the clearest example of the pattern the 2023 review describes: a real ingredient present at a negligible dose.
How does the HoneyBoost label compare with the studies?
Far below, line by line.
| Ingredient | Label per gummy | Studied amount | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tongkat ali | 25 mg | 100 to 600 mg a day | 4 to 24 times |
| Maca | 10 mg | 1,500 to 3,000 mg a day | 150 to 300 times |
| L-arginine | 10 mg | 5,000 mg a day | 500 times |
| Zinc | 2.5 mg | 11 mg RDA | 4.4 times |
| Horny goat weed, damiana, mucuna | 10 mg each | No human dose in our sources | Not comparable |
Maca extract
the studied amount is 240 times the label amountLabel: 10 mg per gummy. Studied: Dry extract, 2,400 mg a day for 12 weeks in men with mild ED. (Zenico et al. 2009)
Tongkat ali extract
the studied amount is 4 times the label amountLabel: 25 mg per gummy. Studied: Standardized root extract, 100 to 600 mg a day, mostly one branded extract. (Leisegang et al. 2022)
L-arginine
the studied amount is 500 times the label amountLabel: 10 mg per gummy. Studied: 5,000 mg (5 g) a day for 6 weeks in men with organic ED. (Chen et al. 1999)
Zinc
the studied amount is 4.4 times the label amountLabel: 2.5 mg per gummy. Studied: The adult male RDA and label Daily Value is 11 mg a day (not a study dose). (NIH ODS, Zinc)
Label amount, per gummyAmount used in the study (or the daily need, for zinc)
Log scale: each step to the right is ten times more. The label does not say how many gummies make a day, so one gummy is shown. A studied dose says what was tested, not what works for you, and no study tested HoneyBoost. Horny goat weed, damiana and mucuna are left out because we found no human dose that can be set beside the label.
What does FDA warn about?
Hidden drugs in products sold for sexual enhancement, gummies and honey-based products included.
Hidden drugs are the best documented risk in this product category. An FDA laboratory found that 15 of 26 herbal products sold for "sexual performance" held undeclared ED drugs or close copies of them (Gryniewicz et al. 2009). FDA keeps a public list of tainted sexual enhancement products and says the list is not complete (FDA, Sexual Enhancement and Energy Product Notifications). We have no test showing that HoneyBoost holds anything beyond its label. We also cannot rule it out, and no review site can.
Honey in the name is a flavor and a brand word. The ingredient list has sugar, corn syrup, water and pectin and does not list honey. Separately, FDA has warned about honey-based sexual enhancement products that hide drugs (FDA, Tainted Honey-based Products). Those are a different kind of product, which is why we keep the two apart.

See packsWhat about sugar and calories?
A gummy is a candy first.
The label shows 3 g of added sugar in each gummy, 6% of the Daily Value. That is small beside a soda, but it adds up with other foods. The American Heart Association suggests no more than about 9 teaspoons (150 calories) of added sugar a day for most men (AHA, Added Sugars). People who watch blood sugar should count it.
The gummies are packaged in a facility that also handles peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy and milk. The label does not list them as ingredients, so this is a cross-contact notice. If a food allergy is serious, ask the seller and your allergist before you buy.
How do you choose between gummies?
Compare the label, not the claims.
- Amounts in milligrams for every line.
- A named species and extract for each plant.
- Directions and warnings on the bottle.
- A named maker and a lab report on request.
- A clear guarantee and a working phone.
- No promise of results.
To read any supplement label, check five things. First the serving size and the count. Second each active amount in milligrams. Third whether an amount is a plant extract and which ratio. Fourth the directions and warnings. Fifth the maker's name and phone. HoneyBoost's label gives the first three and the fifth in part, but no directions.
When should you skip them?
If you take certain medicines, have a condition, or are not sure.
A short list of who should ask first: people on nitrates or other heart medicine, on blood pressure medicine, on ED drugs, on MAO inhibitors or Parkinson medicine, on diabetes medicine (damiana may affect blood sugar), on aromatase inhibitors or other hormone or cancer medicine, and on tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics (zinc can lower their absorption). People with heart disease, a hormone-sensitive condition, or a psychiatric condition should ask as well.
Trouble with erections, low desire or ongoing tiredness can come from heart and blood vessel disease, diabetes, medicines, stress, poor sleep, low testosterone and other things. NIDDK lists many causes and says a health care professional should look at the whole picture (NIDDK, Erectile Dysfunction: Symptoms and Causes). A gummy does not tell you which cause you have. Getting checked is the part that can help.
The first interaction to know about is with nitrates, the medicines used for chest pain such as nitroglycerin. FDA warns that sexual enhancement products sometimes contain hidden sildenafil or tadalafil, and that mixing those drugs with nitrates can drop blood pressure to a dangerous level (FDA, Sexual Enhancement and Energy Product Notifications). MedlinePlus says the same about sildenafil itself (MedlinePlus, Sildenafil). HoneyBoost does not list a drug. But you cannot see inside a gummy, so if you take a nitrate, ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any product sold for male sexual performance.
